Green Spot is a single pot still Irish whiskey produced at Midleton Distillery in County Cork for Mitchell & Son, the Dublin wine and spirits merchant whose whiskey-bonding heritage dates back to the nineteenth century. Now part of the wider Spot family, it remains one of the most recognisable examples of Ireland’s traditional pot still style.
Made from a mash of malted and unmalted barley and triple distilled in copper pot stills, Green Spot is typically matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and sherry casks. The result is a whiskey with a rounded, gently spicy texture and a bright, orchard-fruit character, often showing green apple, pear, vanilla, toasted oak and sweet cereal notes.
Although it carries no formal age statement, Green Spot is generally understood as a vatting of mature pot still whiskeys in the younger end of the Spot range. It sits alongside Yellow Spot, Red Spot and Blue Spot, offering the freshest and most approachable expression of a historic Irish whiskey style.
